Summary
The Siemens S7 ‘Add/Edit Connection’ panel helps the user configuring a new connection to a Siemens S7 device or editing an existing Siemens S7 connection in a very user-friendly way.
The user can open the ‘Add/Edit Connection‘ panel by clicking the ‘Add New Connection’ icon to create a new connection or by clicking the ‘Edit Connection’ icon to edit an existing connection.
After adding a new connection, a new Siemens S7 tag can be added to the connection.
Procedure
Step 1: In AP Historian, click the ‘Add New Connection‘ icon.
Step 2: Next, fill in all general connection parameters in the ‘General‘ tab as described in the ‘Add New Connection‘ support page.
Step 3: Click the ‘Connection’ tab to fill in the connection parameters.
- IP Address: Specifies the IP address of the profinet connected Siemens S7 device.
- CPU Type: Specifies the CPU type of the S7 device, f.e.: S71200.
- Rack: Specifies the rack number of the CPU. When selecting the ‘CPU Type’ the default rack number for the given CPU Type is filled in automatically.
- Slot: Specifies the slot number of the CPU. When selecting the ‘CPU Type’ the default slot number for the given CPU Type is filled in automatically.
- Timeout: Specifies the connection timeout setting in ms.
Step 4: Finally, click ‘Save‘ to save the connection in Historian.
